Tatura is just south west of Shepparton. The closest trout water is about two hours away, on the Goulburn below Lake Eildon or the Delatite at Mansfield.
Drive times are a rough guide and depend on the stretch John picks for the day.
Coming from Toolamba or Undera? The same rivers are the closest for you too, and the drive is about the same.
A day trip from Tatura
A full day on the Goulburn or the Delatite works from Tatura with an early start. You'll fish most of the day and be home in the evening.
Tell John which river appeals or let him choose for the conditions. The Goulburn is a big tailwater, and the Delatite is a small stream under the mountains.
Making a weekend of it
To fish more than one river, stay a night in Mansfield. Two days lets you try the Delatite and the Howqua, or the Goulburn and the King.
What's included
Every trip is a half or full day with John beside you on the water the whole time. Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all supplied, so there's nothing to pack but yourself. Catering is included, and dietary requirements are catered for.
Casting lessons in Benalla
Benalla is about an hour and a quarter away via the Midland Highway. A three hour casting lesson there gets you ready for the river. More about casting lessons.
Plan your trip from Tatura.
Tell John where you're coming from, which days suit and what you'd like to get out of the trip. He'll suggest the river and plan the day around it.
