The Kiewa runs into the Murray just east of Wodonga, so the closest guided water is on your doorstep. The alpine rivers around Bright are about an hour and a half away.
Through to Porepunkah, then up the Buckland Valley.
Drive times are a rough guide and depend on the stretch John picks for the day.
Coming from Bandiana? The same rivers are the closest for you too, and the drive is about the same.
A day trip from Albury Wodonga
For anglers in Albury Wodonga, the Kiewa Valley is the natural first choice. The lower valley is close enough for a half day, and the fast mountain water up around Mount Beauty is an easy full day trip.
The Ovens, Buffalo and Buckland are all within reach for a full day too. John can pick the river based on the season and what you want to work on, whether that is dry fly in clear water or nymphing bigger runs.
Making a weekend of it
Most trips from Albury Wodonga are day trips. If you'd like to fish two rivers on back to back days, Bright and Mount Beauty both make a good base.
What's included
Every trip is a half or full day with John beside you on the water the whole time. Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all supplied, so there's nothing to pack but yourself. Catering is included, and dietary requirements are catered for.
Casting lessons in Benalla
Casting lessons are held in Benalla, about an hour and a quarter down the Hume. Pair one with a day on the Ovens and you have a weekend sorted. More about casting lessons.
Plan your trip from Albury Wodonga.
Tell John where you're coming from, which days suit and what you'd like to get out of the trip. He'll suggest the river and plan the day around it.
