Up the Hume to Wangaratta, then the Great Alpine Road to Myrtleford.
Drive times are a rough guide and depend on the stretch John picks for the day.
Coming from Avenel? The same rivers are the closest for you too, and the drive is about the same.
A day trip from Nagambie
From Nagambie a full day on the Goulburn below the dam is the easiest trip. Leave early and you'll be fishing by mid morning.
The Delatite and the King are each about two hours away. They're smaller streams, so they suit anglers who like to walk and wade.
Making a weekend of it
For the alpine rivers around Myrtleford and Bright, plan a night away. Two days on two different rivers gives you a feel for the region.
What's included
Every trip is a half or full day with John beside you on the water the whole time. Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all supplied, so there's nothing to pack but yourself. Catering is included, and dietary requirements are catered for.
Casting lessons in Benalla
Benalla is about an hour and a quarter away via the Hume. A three hour casting lesson there is a good way to get ready for a first trip. More about casting lessons.
Plan your trip from Nagambie.
Tell John where you're coming from, which days suit and what you'd like to get out of the trip. He'll suggest the river and plan the day around it.
