A day trip from Chiltern

From Chiltern, a full day on the Ovens or the lower Kiewa is an easy trip. You'll be fishing by mid morning and home in time for dinner.

The King is a little further but still a day trip. Below Lake William Hovell it has runs and pools between gravel bars, with easy access.

Making a weekend of it

The upper Kiewa and the rivers around Bright are about an hour and a half away. A night in Bright or Mount Beauty makes a weekend of it.

What's included

Every trip is a half or full day with John beside you on the water the whole time. Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all supplied, so there's nothing to pack but yourself. Catering is included, and dietary requirements are catered for.

Casting lessons in Benalla

Benalla is about an hour down the Hume Freeway, so a three hour casting lesson is a simple trip from Chiltern. More about casting lessons.

Plan your trip from Chiltern.

Tell John where you're coming from, which days suit and what you'd like to get out of the trip. He'll suggest the river and plan the day around it.
