Drive times are a rough guide and depend on the stretch John picks for the day.
Coming from Kiewa, Tangambalanga or Dederang? The same rivers are the closest for you too, and the drive is about the same.
A day trip from Yackandandah
The Kiewa is the closest water to Yackandandah. A half day there fits around the rest of your day, and a full day lets you work further up the valley.
The Ovens is the other easy choice. It's bigger water, with riffles and pools through the valley.
Making a weekend of it
For the upper Kiewa around Mount Beauty, or the Buffalo above the lake, a night away gives you the most time on the water.
What's included
Every trip is a half or full day with John beside you on the water the whole time. Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all supplied, so there's nothing to pack but yourself. Catering is included, and dietary requirements are catered for.
Casting lessons in Benalla
Benalla is about an hour and a quarter away. A three hour casting lesson is worth the trip before a first day on the river. More about casting lessons.
Plan your trip from Yackandandah.
Tell John where you're coming from, which days suit and what you'd like to get out of the trip. He'll suggest the river and plan the day around it.
