Guided fly fishing trips from Myrtleford.

Myrtleford sits where the Buffalo joins the Ovens. Three of John's rivers are within half an hour of town.

A day trip from Myrtleford

From Myrtleford a half day works well. You can fish the Ovens or the Buffalo in the morning and be home for lunch.

On a full day there's time to get well up the Buffalo or the Buckland, where the water is smaller and the valleys are steeper.

Making a weekend of it

You won't need to stay away for most trips. The Kiewa and the King are each about an hour, so they're day trips too.

What's included

Every trip is a half or full day with John beside you on the water the whole time. Waders, boots, rods, reels and flies are all supplied, so there's nothing to pack but yourself. Catering is included, and dietary requirements are catered for.

Casting lessons in Benalla

Benalla is about an hour away via Wangaratta and the Hume. If you'd like to sharpen your casting, a three hour lesson there is worth the trip. More about casting lessons.

Plan your trip from Myrtleford.

Tell John where you're coming from, which days suit and what you'd like to get out of the trip. He'll suggest the river and plan the day around it.
